Fire road hike

While Dad was away, we did some local hiking and got some great pictures. #2 is our favorite!!
Thank you my friend for sharing your fire road with us!!

Dad's Exciting Visit with the Newlyweds

2nd generation pumpkin head family...Dad knew he had arrived before going inside!!
Seven-mile bike ride around Medicine Lake
Time to get the jet ski off the lake...very fun to drive.
Just a few more circles to use up the gasoline...Dad and Laura just changed places and before Dad was hanging on, but it was time to turn. Kersplash! Into the 40 degree water went Dad. Both Dad and Jet Ski were quickly removed from the lake and on dry ground. Dad was thankful for a hot shower and dry clothes and the famous homemade Apple Cake!!

New ride!!
They watched the first 2 world series games together. Go Giants!!
Pumpkin time!!
Dad loved being with you!! Thanks for all the good food and company.

Happy when we're hiking

I'm so excited. I'm on THE Appalachian Trail. My dream to go the distance is tangible and rocky...years of planning ahead...I'm thinking 2022 for those of you that want to pencil it in and join me on the adventure of your life.

From the top of the bluff across the river from the town we enjoyed the view and lunch we packed in and sunshine on our toes. Thank you ST and GW for inspiring this photo.

After coming down, we couldn't resist the water...or the cool trees along the river's edge perfect for climbing.

The hike starts in town. We crossed the bridge, then were on The Appalachian Trail along a tow path for a canal, then up through woods and around and down to the bluffs to the left of this picture. Then we returned to down via the river wading and tree climbing for ice cream and 1860 Election reinactment. I voted for Steven Douglas as Abraham Lincoln was not on the ballot for any southern states. One of the questions I was asked when I went in to vote was if I was a person of means. (Vagrants were not allowed to vote--women either but they didn't asked about that.) When I got to the front of the line, I handed the election judge my ballot (given to me by townspeople for each of the candidates) As they took my ballot they loudly called out "Vote for the Honorable Steven Douglas" so it could be tallied by the other election worker. I guess secret ballots came later...

Corvette Weekend--OC in October

JT started the dinosaur golf off right with a hole in one!
Dad checks out the bones in the cave as JT is his lookout. Did she forget the predators from above?????
Another hole in one as mom dances with her contemporaries....
Nice Rexie...
Tribute to the Winner--Victory dance by Stripy.

(JT got the Vett pictures so hopefully I will blog them soon!)

Fall Festivus

A great time was had by one and all at our ward fall social. Check out the tables heavy laden with chili, cornbread, and pies. What could be better? We had a beautiful day, perfect for the
premier performance of our old lady band--The Black Eyed Susans. Take time to note the hat decor. We also answer to Susie Q's, Blackies, Susie woosies etc. We mostly laugh and laugh some more at our rehearsals. I am honored to be a part of this elustrious group.
Our daughters joined in singing a beautiful song "The River is Wide" that has Shenendoah as a counter melody.
I am posting this now to hopefully hold the correct sequencial spot so I can figure out how to post the videos of the band and especially of JT and her teacher fiddlin 3 Irish Jigs together.

PEACE and LOVE--JT is 12

Birthday Eve------Let the tying and the dying and partying begin!!
All love to be in the pictures...
JT showed her cake decorating skills by designing and frosting her Peace Sign cake.
Sardines in the woods was great! One team would hide, then all the other teams set out to find them and hide with them until only one team was still looking. All were on the lookout for Sasquatch!!!!! Thank you to the high school band rehearsal with their discordant eerry music.

We ended with musical chairs where only the chairs disappeared--here is the unpiling of the 11 on one strong chair.
On JT's birthday, we met dad for lunch at a cool place...
Then became spys....
The metro back to the car was bumpy. Dad is very brave to do it daily!! Thank you.
Thank you newlyweds for the Twins hat!! It fits perfect.
Young Women's welcomed JT with a bee attack on her bedroom door. The Activity Girls and leaders farewelled her with a helium balloon they all signed.

JT is very loved!! Happy Birthday Bones!

Road trip day 3-Cheyenne Cheyenne Hop on your pony

The rolling praire along Interstate 80 is quite green for August.
Capitol Avenue heading downtown--rush hour...
The beautiful Wyoming Capitol
Ryguy sitting on the stairs of the old Shumway homestead.
Whose week is it to clip the hedge??
The church across the street is no longer LDS.
My old Churchill Elementary looks in good repair...but odd without the gravel, swings, crossbars, and the two story fire escape...progress?

Thank you Ryguy for making Cheyenne part of your roadtrip! Love the pictures of my hometown. Hope you all enjoy them too.
